Bunkpost

Chapter 06 — Run the park

Running the front desk

Walk-ins, phone bookings, date moves, cash and card payments, refunds, no-shows, and charging the camp store straight to a site.

At a glance

Walk-ins & phone bookings
Typed straight into the same calendar, protected by the same can't-double-book rule.
Payments at the desk
Record cash and checks, or charge the card the guest saved at online checkout — one click.
Refunds
Policy-aware: Bunkpost computes the refund from your cancellation windows; card refunds go back through Stripe.
Statuses
Confirmed, checked in, checked out, cancelled, no-show — the list and reports follow along.

The reservation list is mission control

Every stay — upcoming, in-house, past — lives in one searchable list, with long-term guests broken out on top. Click any reservation and a drawer opens with the whole story: dates, site, party, payments, store charges, notes, and every action you'd reach for at the counter.

The reservations list — search it, filter it, or export the whole thing to CSV.

Bookings that don't come from the internet

A camper calls, or pulls up to the window. Hit New booking, pick the site and dates, take a payment or don't — done. The booking is marked by source (walk-in, phone, admin) so your reports can tell you how much of your business the booking page is actually winning. And because you have judgment a form doesn't, the front desk can override the rig-length limit when you know the big rig will fit.

Money at the counter

  • Cash or check: record it against the reservation; the balance updates and the payment lands in reports under its method.
  • Card on file:when a guest paid online, their card was saved with their OK at checkout. Charging the remaining balance — or last night's firewood — is one click, no card reader, no reading digits over the phone.
  • Store charges: camp-store sales charged to the site appear on the reservation as line items and roll into the balance. Remove one if the kid grabbed the wrong candy bar.
  • Refunds: full or partial. Card money goes back through Stripe automatically; cash portions are recorded so the books stay straight. Cancel a reservation and Bunkpost computes the refund from your cancellation windows — you confirm, not calculate.

The day-of rhythm

Mark guests checked in as they arrive (or let them do it themselves — self check-in flips the same switch), checked out as they leave, and no-showwhen the 8 p.m. arrival never materializes. Statuses aren't decoration: check-in is what reveals gate codes and WiFi to the guest, and no-shows keep your occupancy numbers honest.
